Catholic League (France)

A Catholic political and military movement formed in France during the Wars of Religion. It opposed Protestant influence and Henry IV’s succession to the French throne.

French Wars of Religion: A series of civil wars and related conflicts in France between Catholics and Protestants from 1562 to 1598. The League became a major force in these wars, especially during the succession crisis.
