Censorship in China

Censorship in China is state or institutional control over expression and access to information, including restrictions on media, publishing, speech, and the internet.

Cyberspace Administration of China: A Chinese government agency that regulates online content, services, and public communication. It coordinates major parts of the state’s online content regulation.
Chinese Communist Party: The ruling political party of the People’s Republic of China since 1949. Its leadership and institutional priorities define the political framework for censorship.
Chinese journalism: The reporting and production of news by journalists and media organizations in China. State oversight shapes what news organizations can investigate and publish.
Information asymmetry: A condition in which different parties possess unequal amounts or quality of information. Restrictions can leave the public and officials with sharply unequal access to facts.
