Center (basketball)

A basketball position typically played by a team’s tallest interior player near the basket. Centers defend the rim, rebound, and score close to the basket, though modern roles vary widely.

Rim protection: A defensive strategy that deters or blocks shots near the basket. Centers often anchor this defense through size, timing, and positioning.
