Chaim Weizmann

Chaim Weizmann (1874–1952) was a chemist and Zionist leader who helped secure British support for a Jewish national home in Palestine and became Israel’s first president.

Arthur Balfour: Arthur Balfour was a British statesman whose 1917 declaration supported establishing a Jewish national home in Palestine. Weizmann’s advocacy helped persuade Balfour to issue the declaration that bears his name.
Motal: Motal, now Motol in Belarus, was the town where Chaim Weizmann was born in 1874. Weizmann’s upbringing in this Jewish community preceded his scientific and political career.

University of Fribourg: The University of Fribourg is a Swiss university founded in 1889, with teaching in several languages. Weizmann studied chemistry there before pursuing research in Germany and Switzerland.
