Chandragupta Maurya

Chandragupta Maurya founded the Mauryan Empire and ruled much of the Indian subcontinent from about 321 to 297 BCE. His reign established the dynasty that later reached its greatest extent under Ashoka.

Nanda Empire: A powerful kingdom based in Magadha that ruled before the Mauryan Empire. Chandragupta’s rise displaced the Nanda dynasty and took control of its Magadhan center.
