Charles A. Beard

Charles A. Beard (1874–1948) was an American historian and political scientist whose economic interpretations reshaped debates over the Constitution and U.S. history.

Progressive historiography: An approach to U.S. history that emphasized social conflict, economic interests, and reform. Beard helped establish this approach by interpreting political institutions through material interests.
