Charles III of Spain

King of Spain from 1759 to 1788, Charles III pursued administrative and economic reforms while strengthening Spanish power in Europe and the Americas.

Bourbon Reforms: A series of eighteenth-century measures that centralized administration and increased royal control in Spain and its American empire. Charles III expanded reforms begun by earlier Bourbon rulers and made them a defining feature of his reign.
