Knowra Charles the Bold Charles the Bold Charles the Bold (1433–1477) was the last Valois duke of Burgundy. He sought to unite his scattered territories into a kingdom between France and the Holy Roman Empire.
Philip the Good : Duke of Burgundy from 1419 to 1467, who greatly expanded Burgundian power and wealth. Charles inherited the duchy and its territories from his father in 1467.
Treaty of Péronne (1468) : An agreement between Charles the Bold and Louis XI of France, concluded at Péronne in October 1468. It temporarily secured French concessions but left Charles and Louis in bitter conflict.
Louis XI of France : King of France from 1461 to 1483, known for strengthening royal authority and opposing powerful princes. His political and military rivalry with Charles defined their struggle over Burgundian lands.

Kingdom of Burgundy : A medieval kingdom that existed in several forms across regions now in France, Switzerland, and western Germany. Charles sought a new kingdom, distinct from these earlier Burgundian realms.
