Charles the Simple

Charles the Simple was a Carolingian king of West Francia from 898 to 922. His reign included the Viking settlement in Normandy and ended with his deposition and imprisonment.

Charles the Fat: A Carolingian ruler who briefly united much of the Frankish Empire and ruled West Francia until 887. His deposition opened a succession struggle that eventually brought Charles the Simple to the West Frankish throne.
