Chemosterilant

A chemical that causes reproductive sterility, especially in insects, and can suppress pest populations without necessarily killing them.

Alkylating agent: A reactive chemical that transfers alkyl groups to molecules, including DNA, and can disrupt cell function. Some chemosterilants damage reproductive cells by chemically modifying DNA.
Insect pest control: Methods used to reduce insect populations that damage crops, spread disease, or harm stored goods. Chemosterilants are one approach to reducing pest reproduction.
