Chess Records

Chess Records was a Chicago record label founded in 1950 by brothers Leonard and Phil Chess. Its recordings helped bring electric blues and early rock and roll to wider audiences.

Aristocrat Records: A Chicago record label founded in 1947 that preceded Chess Records. Leonard and Phil Chess acquired this label and renamed it Chess in 1950.
