Centipede

Centipedes are predatory arthropods in the class Chilopoda, distinguished by one pair of legs on each trunk segment and venomous first legs called forcipules.

Forcipule: A pair of modified first trunk appendages that centipedes use to inject venom. These claws are the centipede’s signature prey-capture and defense structures.
Chilopoda: The arthropod class comprising all centipedes. Centipede species belong to this class, which is defined by its distinctive body plan.
