Christian left

The Christian left is a broad movement that connects Christian faith with left-wing politics, often emphasizing social justice, economic equality, peace, and care for the poor.

Social gospel: A Protestant movement that applies Christian ethics to social problems such as poverty, labor exploitation, and inequality. It gave Christian reformers a language for treating social conditions as matters of faith.
Christian socialism: A political tradition that uses Christian principles to support socialist forms of social and economic organization. It is one of the clearest historical traditions within the Christian left.

Christian democracy: A political tradition rooted in Christian social thought that generally supports democratic institutions and a mixed economy. It shares Christian concern for social welfare but often rejects the Christian left's socialist or radical programs.
Christian ethics: The study and practice of moral principles grounded in Christian beliefs and traditions. It supplies moral arguments that Christian left movements apply to public life.
Industrial Workers of the World: A labor union founded in 1905 that sought to organize workers across trades and industries. Its labor struggles intersected with Christian reformers' campaigns for workers' rights.
