Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was a Nigerian military officer and politician who led the secessionist Republic of Biafra during the Nigerian Civil War.

Igbo people: An ethnic group native primarily to southeastern Nigeria, with diverse communities and cultural traditions. Ojukwu’s political base and Biafra’s core population were predominantly Igbo.
Republic of Biafra: A secessionist state in southeastern Nigeria that existed from 1967 to 1970. Ojukwu proclaimed Biafra and served as its head of state throughout most of the war.
