Columbus is Ohio’s capital and most populous city, located near the center of the state. It is a major governmental, educational, and economic center.

Franklinton: A settlement founded in 1797 on the west bank of the Scioto River, later incorporated into Columbus. It was the earliest permanent settlement in the area that became Columbus.
