Relational organizing : A method of building trust and collective action through one-to-one conversations and ongoing relationships. Organizers use personal conversations to discover concerns, develop leaders, and build durable participation.
Community : A group connected by shared place, identity, interests, or relationships. Organizing begins with people connected by circumstances or concerns, not merely a campaign issue.
Tenants union : An organization through which renters act collectively on housing conditions, rents, and tenant rights. Tenant groups use organizing to negotiate with landlords and press for housing protections.
Community engagement : Activities that invite community members to provide input or participate in decisions and programs. Engagement can solicit opinions without transferring power or building a constituency able to press demands.
Leadership development : The process of helping people gain the skills, confidence, and responsibility to lead others toward shared goals. Organizing shifts decision-making capacity to community members rather than relying solely on professional staff.
