Confederation Bridge

The 12.9-kilometre bridge connecting Prince Edward Island with mainland New Brunswick across the Northumberland Strait. Opened in 1997, it replaced year-round ferry service as the island’s fixed road link to the mainland.

Northumberland Strait: A strait in the Gulf of St. Lawrence separating Prince Edward Island from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. This is the waterway the bridge crosses.
