Conflict in the Niger Delta

A prolonged struggle involving Niger Delta communities, armed groups, oil companies, and the Nigerian state over resource control, environmental harm, and political power.

Niger Delta: A low-lying region of southern Nigeria formed by the Niger River delta and adjoining coastal areas. Its communities, waterways, and oil fields define the conflict’s geographic setting.
