Congregational singing

Congregational singing is collective vocal music performed by members of a religious community during worship. It may use hymns, chants, psalms, or other forms of song.

Hymn: A religious song, often written in stanzas and intended for communal or devotional singing. Hymns are a common form of song sung together during worship.
Early Christian music: The music and singing practices of Christian communities in the first centuries CE. Early Christian communities sang together, establishing precedents for later worship.
