Congress of Cúcuta

The Congress of Cúcuta was a 1821 assembly that adopted a constitution and organized the government of Gran Colombia, the new republic formed from northern South America.

Battle of Carabobo: A decisive 1821 battle in which forces led by Simón Bolívar defeated Spanish royalists in Venezuela. Its victory secured Venezuelan territory as delegates met to establish Gran Colombia.
Constitution of Cúcuta: The 1821 constitution that established the political institutions and territorial framework of Gran Colombia. It was the congress's central constitutional achievement.
