Constans II

Constans II was Byzantine emperor from 641 to 668. His reign was marked by territorial losses to the Rashidun Caliphate, conflict with the Lombards, and a transfer of imperial activity to Sicily.

Battle of the Masts: A major Byzantine naval defeat by Arab forces off the coast of Lycia in 655. Constans reportedly commanded the Byzantine fleet during this setback against the Rashidun Caliphate.
