Constrictor

A constrictor is an animal that subdues prey by wrapping around it and applying pressure. The term most commonly describes snakes that kill or immobilize prey through constriction.

Constriction: A method of restraint in which pressure is applied by tightening around an object or organism. This broader mechanism explains how a constrictor immobilizes prey.
Boa constrictor: A large Central and South American snake that kills prey by constriction. It is a familiar example of a snake whose common name identifies its hunting method.
Snake: A limbless, elongated reptile in the suborder Serpentes. Most animals called constrictors are snakes, though constriction itself is not exclusive to them.
