Copper(II) acetate

Copper(II) acetate is a copper salt of acetic acid, commonly found as a blue-green monohydrate and used in chemical synthesis and pigment production.

Copper(II): Copper(II) is the +2 oxidation state of copper, common in salts and coordination compounds. Its copper ions give the acetate salt its characteristic coordination chemistry.
Wacker process: The Wacker process converts ethylene into acetaldehyde using palladium and copper chloride catalysts. Copper(II) salts participate in reoxidizing the palladium catalyst, though acetate is not the standard copper salt.
Acetic acid: Acetic acid is a colorless carboxylic acid with formula CH₃COOH and the characteristic odor of vinegar. Copper(II) acetate is formed from copper and the conjugate base of this acid.
