Corsican Republic

The Corsican Republic was a self-governing state established in 1755 under Pasquale Paoli and conquered by France in 1769.

Corsican Revolution: A series of Corsican uprisings against Genoese rule from 1729 to 1769. The republic emerged from the revolution’s renewed independence struggle in 1755.
Corsican Diet: The representative assembly that formed part of the Corsican Republic’s governing system. It provided a forum for political representation within Paoli’s republic.
