Knowra Craps Craps Craps is a gambling game in which players wager on the outcomes of rolls of two dice. Its main betting sequence begins with a come-out roll and can continue until a point is decided.
Come-out roll : The first roll in a craps round, before a point is established. It starts the main betting sequence and can decide the pass line immediately.
Probability : A mathematical measure of how likely an event is, ranging from impossible to certain. Craps wagers are priced around the probabilities of dice totals and sequences.
House edge : The casino's mathematical advantage on a wager, expressed as the expected proportion of the bet it retains over time. It distinguishes craps bets that look similar but have very different long-run costs.
Hazard (game) : A medieval English dice game in which a player called the caster tried to make a target number with two dice. Hazard is the European ancestor commonly associated with craps's development.
Roulette : A casino game in which a ball lands in a numbered pocket on a spinning wheel. Roulette resolves bets with one wheel outcome rather than a continuing sequence of dice rolls.
Point (craps) : A come-out total of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 that the shooter must roll again before a 7. Once established, it sets the target for the pass line round.
Two dice : A pair of six-sided dice whose face values combine to produce totals from 2 through 12. Every roll generates one of eleven totals, but those totals are not equally likely.
Place bet : A craps wager that a selected point number will roll before a 7. It lets players bet directly on a number without first waiting for a point.
Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville : A nineteenth-century New Orleans aristocrat associated with popularizing the game of craps in the United States. His name is linked to the game's spread from New Orleans into American gambling culture.
Sic bo : A casino dice game in which players wager on outcomes produced by three dice. It shares dice-based betting with craps but uses three dice and a different wager layout.
