Crusade of 1197

A military expedition to the Holy Land launched by Emperor Henry VI. His death in 1197 disrupted its leadership and objectives.

Henry VI, Holy Roman Emperor: Holy Roman Emperor from 1191 until his death in 1197, who planned a crusade to the eastern Mediterranean. His death in Messina left the expedition without the emperor who had organized it.
