Crying

Crying is the shedding of tears, often accompanied by vocal sounds expressing distress, pain, or strong emotion. It can also occur without sadness, including through eye irritation or intense laughter.

Lacrimation: The production and release of tears from the lacrimal glands. This bodily process produces the tears shed during crying.
Basal tears: The tears continuously produced to lubricate and protect the surface of the eye. They distinguish routine eye lubrication from the increased tearing of crying.
