Cuban Constitution of 1940

Cuba’s constitution adopted in 1940 established a democratic republic and guaranteed political liberties alongside social and economic rights. Its reform program included land, labor, education, and state-resource provisions.

Cuban Revolution of 1933: A 1933 upheaval that toppled Cuban president Gerardo Machado and triggered years of political instability. The upheaval weakened the old order and set the stage for the constitution’s reform agenda.
