Cufflink

A decorative fastener that joins the buttonholes of a shirt’s double cuffs. It replaces the buttons used on ordinary shirt cuffs.

Whale-back cufflink: A cufflink with a hinged bar that folds flat for insertion and turns crosswise to secure the cuff. Its swiveling bar is a common way to fasten a double cuff.
French cuff: A shirt cuff folded back on itself and fastened with cufflinks rather than sewn-on buttons. This common cuff style is designed specifically for cufflinks.
