Daniel Bell

Daniel Bell (1919–2011) was an American sociologist and public intellectual whose influential works examined ideology, social change, and the rise of postindustrial society.

Postindustrial society: A social order in which services, information, and knowledge become more central than manufacturing. Bell used the concept to describe the transformation of work and social structure in advanced economies.
The End of Ideology: Daniel Bell’s 1960 book arguing that grand nineteenth-century political ideologies had lost much of their appeal in the West. This work made Bell’s argument about ideological exhaustion widely known.
