Daniel J. Boorstin

Daniel J. Boorstin (1914–2004) was an American historian and writer who served as Librarian of Congress from 1975 to 1987. His books examined American culture, intellectual life, and the effects of technology and media.

The Image: Daniel J. Boorstin’s 1962 book argues that modern publicity and media cultivate manufactured, recognizable images. This book introduces his influential account of pseudo-events and public images.
