David Gale

David Gale (1921–2008) was an American mathematician and economist whose work spanned game theory, economics, and mathematical programming. With Lloyd Shapley, he introduced the deferred acceptance procedure for stable matching.

Lloyd Shapley: An American mathematician and economist who made major contributions to game theory and cooperative economics. Gale and Shapley jointly introduced the deferred acceptance procedure in 1962.
Deferred acceptance algorithm: A procedure that finds a stable matching by having one side make proposals that the other side tentatively accepts. Gale and Shapley introduced this algorithm for constructing stable matchings.
