David Trimble

David Trimble (1944–2022) was a Northern Irish unionist politician who led the Ulster Unionist Party and helped negotiate the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. He shared the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize with John Hume.

John Hume: John Hume was an Irish nationalist politician who led the Social Democratic and Labour Party and shared the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize. Hume negotiated the Agreement with Trimble and shared the Nobel Peace Prize awarded for their efforts.
Good Friday Agreement: The 1998 agreement established a framework for power-sharing and political cooperation in Northern Ireland. Trimble helped negotiate this settlement and led the Ulster Unionist Party in supporting it.
Northern Ireland Assembly: The Northern Ireland Assembly is the devolved legislature established under the Good Friday Agreement. The Agreement created the Assembly as a central institution of devolved government.
