Daytona 500

The Daytona 500 is an annual 500-mile stock car race held at Daytona International Speedway in Florida. It is the opening event of NASCAR’s Cup Series season.

Daytona International Speedway: A motorsports venue in Daytona Beach, Florida, best known for its high-banked oval and annual endurance races. Its 2.5-mile tri-oval hosts the Daytona 500.
NASCAR: A United States motorsports sanctioning organization founded in 1948, best known for stock car racing. NASCAR founded the Daytona 500 and sanctions it as a Cup Series race.
1979 Daytona 500: The Daytona 500 won by Richard Petty after a last-lap crash and a televised fight between Cale Yarborough and the Allison brothers. Its live broadcast brought stock car racing to a much larger national audience.
