Decimal separator

A mark, usually a period or comma, separating the integer part of a numeral from its fractional part.

Decimal point: A period used to separate the integer and fractional parts of a numeral. It is the decimal separator in conventions such as those used in the United States.
Decimal notation: A positional numeral system in which powers of ten determine digit place values. The separator marks the boundary between whole-number and fractional places in this notation.
