Dervish War

The Dervish War was a series of conflicts in the Horn of Africa between the Somali Dervish movement, led by Mohammed Abdullah Hassan, and British, Ethiopian, and Italian forces.

Dervish movement: A Somali religious and political movement that resisted colonial rule under Mohammed Abdullah Hassan. Its fighters and leadership formed the opposing force in the war.
Scramble for Africa: The late nineteenth-century European partition and conquest of African territories. Colonial expansion created the competing claims that framed the war.
