A country with high income and extensive economic and social infrastructure, typically reflected in measures of health, education, and living standards. The category has no single universally accepted definition.

Poverty in high-income countries: Material deprivation and economic hardship among people living in countries with high average incomes. It shows why national wealth does not mean that poverty has disappeared.
Purchasing power parity: A method of comparing currencies by the prices of equivalent goods and services. It makes income comparisons more meaningful across countries with different price levels.
Emerging market: An economy with growing integration into global markets, often alongside rapid growth and developing financial institutions. Market-investment classifications can differ from judgments about social development.
