Devon Island

Devon Island is a large Arctic island in Nunavut, Canada, and the world’s largest uninhabited island. Its polar desert landscapes include the Haughton impact crater.

Haughton impact crater: A roughly 23-million-year-old impact crater on Devon Island, about 23 kilometers wide. Its exposed impact geology and polar desert terrain have made the island a Mars-analogue research site.
Devon Ice Cap: An ice cap covering part of Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic. Its glacial flow and meltwater help shape the island’s interior.

Permafrost: Ground that remains at or below 0°C for at least two consecutive years. Frozen ground governs drainage, soil development, and construction conditions on the island.
