Dharmapāla

Dharmapāla was a sixth-century Indian Buddhist philosopher associated with Yogācāra. His arguments and commentaries helped shape later Indian and East Asian interpretations of that tradition.

Yogācāra: A Mahāyāna Buddhist tradition emphasizing consciousness and the analysis of experience. Dharmapāla was a major Indian philosopher within this tradition.
Asaṅga: A foundational Indian Yogācāra philosopher traditionally dated to the fourth or fifth century. Asaṅga’s works supplied major foundations for the tradition Dharmapāla defended.
