Diahann Carroll

Diahann Carroll was an American actress and singer whose leading role in the television series Julia broke ground for Black women on U.S. television.

Julia: A 1968–1971 American sitcom starring Diahann Carroll as a widowed nurse raising her son. Carroll’s title role made this series a landmark for Black women leads on U.S. television.
