Diana Vreeland

Diana Vreeland (1903–1989) was an American fashion editor who shaped Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue before becoming a curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

Carmel Snow: Carmel Snow was an influential editor in chief of Harper’s Bazaar from 1934 to 1958. Snow hired Vreeland in 1936 and gave her the platform for her fashion column.
Why Don't You…: “Why Don’t You…?” was a recurring Harper’s Bazaar column offering extravagant, often tongue-in-cheek lifestyle suggestions. The column established Vreeland’s playful, commanding editorial voice.
