Dick Button

Dick Button was an American figure skater and television commentator who won Olympic gold medals in 1948 and 1952. He pioneered the triple loop jump in competition and helped shape figure skating’s television coverage.

Gustave Lussi: A Swiss-American figure skating coach known for developing techniques that helped skaters perform jumps with greater rotation. Lussi coached Button and helped develop the jumping technique behind his competitive innovations.
Triple loop: A figure-skating jump in which the skater takes off and lands on the same backward outside edge after three rotations. Button became the first skater to land this jump in competition, at the 1952 Olympics.
