Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau

Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau (1925–2012) was a German baritone whose recordings and performances shaped modern interpretations of German art song and opera.

Franz Schubert: An Austrian composer (1797–1828) whose works include more than six hundred songs. Fischer-Dieskau became especially associated with Schubert’s songs and recorded the major song cycles.
Gerald Moore: An English pianist (1899–1987) renowned for accompanying singers in recital and on record. Moore was a frequent recital partner and collaborator on Fischer-Dieskau’s song recordings.
Lied: A German art song, usually written for solo voice and piano. The Lied tradition is the form in which Fischer-Dieskau’s interpretive approach was most influential.
