Dijon

Dijon is a city in eastern France, capital of the Côte-d’Or department and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It is known for its preserved historic center and its association with mustard.

Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy: A former ducal residence in Dijon that now houses the city hall and museums. Its buildings anchor the historic center and recall Dijon’s role as a Burgundian capital.

Burgundy wine: Wine produced in the Burgundy region of eastern France, chiefly from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Dijon is a gateway to Burgundy’s wine country and its renowned vineyard landscapes.
Bourgogne-Franche-Comté: A French administrative region formed in 2016 by merging Burgundy and Franche-Comté. Dijon serves as the regional capital of this eastern French region.
Church of Notre-Dame of Dijon: A Gothic church in Dijon, built mainly in the thirteenth century and known for its elaborate west façade. Its façade and carved owl make it a distinctive landmark in the old town.
Charles the Bold: Charles the Bold was duke of Burgundy from 1467 to 1477, when his ambitions brought the duchy into conflict with neighboring powers. His reign belongs to the final phase of Dijon’s prominence as a ducal capital.
