Dinosaur Provincial Park

A protected area in Alberta, Canada, preserving a rich Late Cretaceous fossil landscape in the badlands of the Red Deer River. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for dinosaur fossils.

Albertosaurus: A genus of tyrannosaurid dinosaur that lived in what is now western North America during the Late Cretaceous. Its fossils are among the park’s best-known dinosaur discoveries.
Dinosaur Park Formation: A Late Cretaceous rock formation in Alberta preserving a diverse dinosaur fauna and ancient coastal-plain environments. It contains the principal fossil beds for which the park is known.
