Disney Renaissance

The Disney Renaissance was a period of renewed commercial and critical success for Walt Disney Animation Studios, generally dated from The Little Mermaid (1989) through Tarzan (1999).

The Little Mermaid: A 1989 animated musical film about a mermaid who makes a bargain to live on land. Its success is commonly treated as the Renaissance’s starting point.
Broadway musical: A stage musical produced in a Broadway theater district in New York City. The films’ song-driven structure and dramatic staging drew heavily on Broadway conventions.
