Dominion of New England

The Dominion of New England was a centralized English colonial administration that governed New England and nearby territories from 1686 until its collapse in 1689.

Edmund Andros: Edmund Andros was an English colonial administrator who governed the Dominion of New England from 1686 to 1689. As governor, he exercised the Dominion’s centralized authority and became its most prominent official.
Massachusetts Bay charter: The Massachusetts Bay charter was the royal document that established the colony’s corporate government and legal authority. Its revocation cleared the way for the Dominion to replace Massachusetts Bay’s self-government.

Sir Edmund Andros's New York administration: Edmund Andros governed the Province of New York from 1674 to 1681 under the Duke of York. His earlier colonial service preceded his appointment to lead the Dominion.
