Don Messick
Don Messick (1926–1997) was an American voice actor known for voicing Scooby-Doo, Papa Smurf, Astro, and many other animated characters.
Scooby-Doo: A talking Great Dane and the central character of the Scooby-Doo franchise. Messick originated Scooby-Doo’s voice, including the character’s distinctive speech and comic sounds.
William Hanna: An American animator and producer who co-founded Hanna-Barbera Productions with Joseph Barbera. Hanna’s studio employed Messick across decades of television animation.
Voice acting: The performance of characters or narration using recorded speech rather than visible on-camera acting. Messick’s work exemplifies character performance created entirely through voice.
