Donald Knuth

Donald Knuth is an American computer scientist and mathematician known for The Art of Computer Programming, foundational algorithm analysis, and the TeX typesetting system.

Analysis of algorithms: The mathematical study of algorithms’ correctness and resource requirements. Knuth developed detailed techniques for deriving and presenting algorithm performance.
Donald Knuth's MIX: A hypothetical computer architecture and instruction set used in early editions of The Art of Computer Programming. Knuth invented MIX to give algorithm examples a precise machine model.
