Knowra Dongguan Dongguan Dongguan is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong, China, in the Pearl River Delta between Guangzhou and Shenzhen. It is a major manufacturing center and part of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
Pearl River Delta : A densely urbanized estuary region in southern Guangdong where the Pearl River meets the South China Sea. Dongguan sits within this delta’s network of cities, ports, and factories.
Electronics manufacturing : The production of electronic components, devices, and systems at industrial scale. Electronics factories helped make Dongguan a major export-production center.
Dongguan County : The historical county administration that preceded Dongguan’s establishment as a prefecture-level city. The county was elevated to city status in 1985.
Rural industrialization : The growth of industrial production in rural areas, often alongside agriculture and village communities. Factories spread through Dongguan’s towns and villages rather than only a central city.
Shenzhen : A major Chinese city bordering Hong Kong, known for technology, finance, and manufacturing. Shenzhen is often associated with technology firms, while Dongguan is especially associated with factory production.
